Chincoteague Bay Field Station Oyster Reef Restoration Project
Volunteers are needed from 1 PM- 4 PM to help Chincoteague Bay Field Station put oyster shells into bags for shoreline stabilization and for future reef-building. Event will take place in Greenbackville at the Field Station’s Franklin City Road property. Hot drinks and light refreshments will be provided throughout the afternoon. Chincoteague Bay Field Station Libations & Lectures Series
A series of fun, educational opportunities for the over 21 crowd. Each evening will feature a special drink and some great nibbles before a fascinating discussion. All events start at 5 PM with lectures starting promptly at 5:45 PM. Cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. The first lecture is Oysters and Old Fashioneds – Join Bo Lusk, Marine Steward with the Nature Conservancy’s Virginia Coast Reserve, for an evening of oyster appreciation. Oyster natural history, the current state of our oyster populations, and the science of shellfish management and restoration will be covered.
