On Chincoteague, the Moon will block a maximum of 81.4% of the Sun’s light. One sounding rocket will launch for each segment of the solar eclipse beginning around 2:40 p.m. EDT and ending around at 4:05 p.m. EDT, yielding about 45 minutes between each rocket.
Launch Spots
We have several perfect launch & eclipse viewing spots right here at the Inn! If you stay with us, you won’t have to worry about driving or parking– just walk out to the observation deck, marsh platform, or pedestrian bridge a few minutes ahead of the launch, and walk back when it’s over. We also have a limited number of ISO-approved eclipse glasses available for guests’ use.

These rates are based on standard occupancy (2 Adults and up to 2 children under 12 in rooms with two Queens; 2 Adults and up to one child under 12 in rooms with one King) and are subject to availability. We have a limited number of rooms available at this rate so don’t delay!
